Personal Opinion Article
By Shirley Scurlock

The uneven treatment Sarah Palin received during the election was shameful and although the election is over the bashing continues. Many believe the bashing to be an attempt to sabotage any future elections . This year brought us many "firsts." Both Obama and Paline are a shot in the arm for minorities. This election was a reason to celebrate 2008; a year of dreams coming true for so many. The sight of these candidates with their families walking the the platform was inspirational.
All of the candidates deserve our warmest wishes. Sarah Palin was a breath of fresh air in a somewhat stale political atmosphere. Like Obama, Sarah was new to the scene, much like fresh blood for the hunter! The hounds were released and they went on the hunt to kill her with lies and half truths. Although the sexist attitudes of the secular media tested Sarah Palins character - she certainly came through with strength to spare. Questions loomed about the clothes she wore as they badgered her about about what she did or didn't know regarding foreign policy. Many polls found most people liked her and would vote for her in 2012. There's nothing we get behind faster than the underdog! Especially when the underdog doesn't deserve it. The negative reporters best efforts could not make the majority of people dislike Sarah.
The people of the United States realize many gifts are dangled in front of the hungry eyes of new comers. There is no doubt many of those clothes, or anything else offered to her was a so called salary perk. Sarah gave back the clothes of course, and we applaud her for it. It is unfair to cast aspersions on her character when we all know how candidates are primed, dressed and trained! Like a movie star their clothes and make-up are done by experts. Most of us are wise enough to know how this works and we glean from what they say rather than what they wear or drive!. Our hope is that Sarah will maintain her individuality as she continues in the political arena.

Our advice to Sarah is to wear your own clothes, and use your own words! We've seen the best dressed and most clever come and go, pockets full, leaving nothing but broken promises behind. Be yourself and tell the truth. Prepare for 2012 and be ready for the saber-toothed news media who were in bed with the Obama team. If they were well prepared in 2008 you can be sure they will be ready! We would tell her to run regardless of what they say about your family, your faith or your politics!

Count your blessings name them one by one. Count your blessings see what God has done. Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessings see what God has done."

I grew up in church listening to this song and wondered what blessings meant. Was it a food? A prize? A gift? just exactly what was a blessing?
Now I understand and know what blessings is; It's being thankful for everything.

The little things we take for granted, like the air we breathe, the strength to work, to have family, everything that you can think of that you know, can only be given by God is a blessing. Take the time to count your blessings, in these hard economic times we are thriving on the blessings of God.

He has overtaken us with his blessings and we can be ungrateful and forgetful, but that's okay. As we confess it and repent from it God will still bless us because we have realized that without him we can't do anything in life!

So count your blessings, I am doing that everyday the moment I want to complain, or stress out I must count my blessings and be reminded in his words that our God is our everything!

Cherokee08 "Wait Upon The Lord, UGH" 1 Feb 21 2009, 7:36 AM EST by ShirleyScurlock

Psalm 37:34 KJV
Wait upon the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
Life Application Bible:
It is difficult to wait patiently for God to act when we want change right away. But God promises that if we submit to his timing, he will honor us. Peter said, "Humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time." (1Peter 5:6) Be patient, steadily doing the work God has given you to do, and allow God to choose the best time to change your circumstances.
Thoughts:
I want NOW, not tomorrow, next year, I am so worried it will not ever happen if not now. Yes I want to live a Christian life, want to do in HIS time. but must happen NOW.
I have found that, on every area of my life, IF I Wait upon The Lord, I do not need make the decision, I only need to agree with God. Instead of forging ahead hoping my want NOW is in agreement w/HIS original plan. My life took on a new kind of Blessing that day, and every time I remember, WAIT UPON THE LORD. Look NO new gray hair!

Prayer:
Holy God Of ALL, even time and space, we tremble in YOUR Immense presence, knowing YOU have all authority over Everything, we are grateful for ALL YOU do that can be seen, and the unseen. We thank YOU for opening our spiritual eyes when we read YOUR word, thank YOU especially for having answers there for us for everything IF we only WAIT for YOUR answer to be given in YOUR time. We know so little, timing is in YOUR department, help us daily to remember this, to learn to WAIT upon YOU. Use us this day, in All we do to help others, to be as Jesus to everyone, not just those we think look like they should. YOU cause it to rain upon the righteous and unrighteiou, in Jesus name AMEN God's Blessings on you, Luv Cherokee
